Tamara is a bilingual Educator, who has been teaching for over 10 years. She has worked extensively as an arts integration specialist, teaching theatre arts integration in over fifty NYC Public Schools, across the 5 boroughs. She has also worked as Theatre teacher in private schools, theatre companies, senior centers and community centers in NYC and Mexico. She is a teaching artist through The Center for Arts Education, Sundog Theater, Alice Austen House, The Noble Maritime Collection Museum and was the Spanish & Theater teacher at Building Blocks Montessori School, Staten Island and the Perry School in Manhattan. In her teaching artist residencies, her curriculums have included English, science, literacy, immigration and history content. Additionally, she has led theatre residencies that highlight introductory acting pedagogy, pantomime, scene study, monologue work, devising projects and improvisation, with most culminating in live performances. These experiences continue to affirm her artistic goal to create community and celebrate difference by upholding each person’s unique story, earnestly and without prejudice. Tamara has experience teaching students ages 6 months old to senior citizens, but feels most at home teaching elementary school.

Her commitment to education has led her to teach several professional developments for teachers including a trip to Mexico where she led a Teacher PD at the private performing arts high school, Escuela Sierra Nevada Sunland.  Other professional developments include work at PS 20R, PS 516k and Success Academy Charter Schools.

Her diverse working background gives her a unique edge within the classroom.  Tamara is committed to creating a safe educational environment to encourage vulnerability, collaboration, risk-taking and creative exploration, while also offering artistic avenues to enhance inclusivity, diversity and equity.
